Position Title: Assistant Athletic Director

Unit: Non-Unit Professional (NUP) 

Department: RLTAC/ Athletics

Reports to: Director of Athletics

Date: July 2024

The Assistant Athletic Director position reports to the Director of Athletics and will support the Athletics Director with all daily endeavors that help to ensure the daily leadership, flow and management of the Athletics Department. This position assists the Athletics Director with supervising and coordinating intercollegiate athletics. This is an important Leadership role that requires extensive student and coach interaction, and the ability to confidently interact and engage with a diverse population. 

  • Assists Athletics Director with supervising and coordinating intercollegiate athletics.  
  • Assists with hiring, supervising and evaluating all coaches.  
  • Assists with Coordinating scheduling of games.  
  • Assists with reviewing and monitoring the academic progress of all student athletes.  
  • Assists with recruitment of Student Athletes. 
  • Assist with the enrollment process of new student athletes, to help ensure NJCAA eligibility standards are met.  
  • Attend games and serve as an official administrator as required by the Athletic Director and NJCAA. 
  • Assists in coordinating travel arrangements for student athletes.  
  • Assists in coordinating events with Director of Athletics. 
  • Assists in conducting annual coaching performance assessments. 
  • Assists in monitoring the program budget and ensure fiscal responsibility. 
  • Assists with ordering equipment, uniforms and supplies. 
  • Assists with ensuring eligibility of all transfer student athletes.  Assists with attending practices to ensure compliance and management.   





Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sports administration, Physical Education, Recreation or closely related field Experience in athletic administration and/or coaching at the collegiate level.  
  • 2-3 of experience supervising staff and or coaching/leading a team.  
  • Remains knowledgeable and abides by all Region 21 and NJCAA rules and regulations.  
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse populations, and to plan and adapt to change.  
  • Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others.  
  • Ability to work with and Mentor college-aged student athletes.  
  • Ability to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently.  
  • Excellent organizational skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. 
  • Intermediate skills with MS Office products/software. 




Additional Information:

Compensation (Salary Range): $65,000.00-70,000.00 (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)
