Assistant Professor, Clinical/Counseling Psychology (tenure-track)

Job Summary:

The Muhlenberg College Department of Psychology invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Clinical/ Counseling Psychology to begin August 2025. The Psychology department is a welcoming community of students, staff, and faculty who are deeply committed to undergraduate intellectual growth and well-being. We have a strong track record of excellence in teaching, and a reputation as a department that offers collegiality and support to one another, both as instructors and as people. The successful candidate will be student-centered and strongly committed to diversity-related teaching and research in a small liberal arts college environment. Applicants should have a Doctorate in Psychology by August 2025, evidence of excellent teaching, an interest in mentoring undergraduates, and a strong record of scholarship and professional activity in Psychology. The expected teaching load is three courses per semester, six per year. Courses will include core and content classes such as Introduction to Psychology and Abnormal Psychology as well as upper level courses in the candidate's area of expertise. As a liberal arts college, we seek candidates who are able to contribute to interdisciplinary programming by teaching courses such as Health Psychology or Community Psychology. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to serve as mentors for students in our undergraduate research programs and also serve as academic advisors. The Muhlenberg Center for Teaching and Learning offers a range of programs in support of faculty, including pedagogical and mentorship workshops, support for meaningful classroom experimentation, and facilitated interdisciplinary collaboration. Candidates must have a PhD in Clinical/ Counseling Psychology by August 2025. Successful completion of satisfactory background checks is also required.
