Position Highlights

The Department of Medicine is seeking candidates for a Clinical Research Coordinator II position in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. The Clinical Research Coordinator II is responsible for the daily activities associated with the RECOVER-NEURO and RECOVER-VITAL clinical trials, which focus on evaluating interventions in Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection (PASC). Daily activities include pre-screening of electronic medical records, subject recruitment and consenting, data and specimen collection, data entry, and query resolution. The incumbent will coordinate research activities as required by protocol, maintain detailed and accurate documentation, and work directly with participants and study investigators to achieve study goals. Applicants must also be fluent in written and spoken Spanish.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct clinical research studies according to protocol. This includes subject recruitment, consenting, and administration of protocol required procedures such as questionnaires, vital sign and performance measurements, biospecimen collection, follow up contacts, etc.
  • Accurate collection of clinical data from subject interviews, medical record review, and study indicated procedures with data entry into appropriate data management systems.
  • Create source documents and study workflows as needed to achieve project goals.
  • Prepare and provide study updates to investigators, research manager, and study monitors as requested.
  • Complete basic lab processing as required by study protocols (ie. centrifuge, aliquot, and freeze samples), maintain detailed specimen records for sample storage and shipment to central labs.
  • Appropriately ship samples as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of ethics and regulations for human subjects research.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and conditions.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Applicant must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with patients in a clinical research or healthcare setting.
  • Experience with biospecimen collection and handling.
