Job Title: Directional Drill Operator
Reports To: Foreman

Job Summary: The Directional Drill Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining drilling machinery for underground construction projects at Heartland Underground Solutions. This role ensures efficient and safe operations while collaborating with team members and interpreting engineering plans.
Key Responsibilities: - Equipment Operation:
- Operate directional drilling equipment from 10k to 30k.
- Accurately locate pilot bores
- Maintenance:
- Conduct routine maintenance and perform minor repairs on machinery.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaboration:
- Work with team members to interpret engineering plans and ensure project success.
- Transport & Setup:
- Set up and transport equipment as needed for various projects.
- Adhere to DOT rules and regulations.
- Record Keeping:
- Keep accurate records of equipment use and maintenance activities.
Minimum Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of directional drill fluids and backreaming.
- Must be able to be insured under company vehicle insurance policy.
- 3+ years of experience operating directional drills.
- CDL Class A driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures and equipment maintenance.
- Good communication skills and physical stamina.
Preferred Skills: - Experience with specialized drilling equipment.
- Advanced maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Stamina to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
Work Environment: - Outdoor:
- Primarily outdoor work, often in challenging weather conditions.
- Exposure to construction sites with varying levels of noise, dust, and heavy equipment operation.
- Frequent interaction with crew members, subcontractors, and other site personnel.
Safety Requirements: - Comply with OSHA safety guidelines and wear PPE as needed.
- Report hazards and follow safe work practices.
