Golf Course Superintendent
Country Club in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
Responsible for golf course operations and maintenance, including turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, scheduling/maintenance, irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues. The Superintendent hires and trains Grounds Keeping Staff to use safe practices when maintaining course and operating equipment. The Superintendent works to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with positive communications with members and guests. Overall, they are tasked with making sure golfers have a memorable experience they want to repeat.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Responsible for all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic Operations, Irrigations Systems, Golf Carts, Course Maintenance Equipment (Mowers, Tractors, Sand Machines, etc.) cost control, and personnel management.
2. Works closely with, advises, and coordinates with the General Manager.
3. Directs and participates in the construction and maintenance of the grounds.
4. Administers and enforces all Club rules and policies for staff.
5. Works with the General Manager and the Board of Directors to operate the course successfully.
6. Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, and wetlands on the facility grounds.
7. Directs staff on the plantings and replacement, spraying, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, preparation of soil plant beds for attractive arrangements, tending to high-stress areas and good water usage.
8. Recruits, manages, and trains Grounds Keeping Staff.
9. Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure staff is working within OSHA and safety guidelines.
10. Advises the the Board of Directors on the needs for additional or replacement of capital equipment.
11. Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
12. Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with golf course operations.
13. Maintains records and completes required reporting.
Requirements:
2-4 Year Degree in Agronomy / Golf Course Management or equivalent work experience preferred.
General knowledge of machine maintenance and repair is preferred.
