TYPE OF POSITION/EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY:  Full-Time, Staff

DEPARTMENT:  Public Safety

SCHEDULE:  Shift: 3:00pm to 11:00pm, Days off To Be Determined 

• Regular evening, holiday or weekend work required: Hours based on needs of the University and staffing. 

REMOTE WORK ELIGILITY: No

HOURS/WEEK and MONTHS/YEAR: 40 hours/week and 52 weeks/year 

FLSA STATUS:  Non-exempt, Hourly

GENERAL PURPOSE

The public safety officer serves and protects the campus community. Duties include but are not limited to ensuring buildings are secured and safe, making themselves available to the students, faculty and the staff for assistance and assisting in emergency situations on campus.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Foot, bicycle and motor patrol.
• Responding to medical and other emergences.
• Report writing.
• Operate and maintain the command center (building alarm systems, fire safety and closed circuit televisions systems) 
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be approachable and professional.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• More than 8 years of work related experience
• Licensed pursuant to the New York State Security Guard Act of 1992
• Certified in first aid, CPR/AED/Narcan
• Valid NYS Driver's License 
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUBLIC CONTACT

• Daily contact requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.

SALARY INFORMATION

When determining the salary offer for a new employee, Molloy considers several key characteristics such as job knowledge, skills, and experience as well as internal and external equity. The hiring hourly rate for this position is $20.00/hour. This hourly rate represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting.
