Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing medical assistance to students in K-3 to 5th grade and reports to the principal. S/he will also complete multiple tasks each day ranging from assessing minor injuries requesting emergency services. Some duties may include:

• Conducting student hearing and vision screenings.
• Educating students on hygiene and safety practices.
• Dispensing prescription medications to students per physician instructions.
• Verifying vaccination records.
• Taking students’ temperatures when fever is suspected.
• Administering first aid and CPR.
• Treating minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
• Contacting parents and/or guardians when students are ill or injured.
• Works Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Qualifications:

• Meet all of the SC Department of Education regarding licensing, registration and background checks from the Diocese of Charleston.
• At least two years of relevant experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Basic knowledge of applicable laws and nursing practice regulations and standards.
• Demonstrated organization, leadership, and time management skills.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Responsible for planning the school’s Annual Health Fair in April.
• Serves on the Health and Wellness Committee.
